INTERCESSIONS

Prayers by Mr Alan Bayliss

Let us pray...
Gracious and Heavenly Father, source of every blessing, giver of every good gift,
We worship and adore you and bless your holy name.
We praise you for the revelation of yourself in our Lord Jesus Christ and every glimpse we have of your nature.
May our love and worship of you so fill our lives that we show you forth to others.
We praise you for all the joys of life, and the everyday blessings which we receive from you.
May we in turn be a source of blessing to all with whom we come into contact.

Lord in your mercy:
Hear our prayer.

There is still so much unrest and hatred of other races in the world, let us pray for racial harmony:

Almighty God, as your Son our Saviour was born of a Hebrew mother, but rejoiced in the faith of a Syrian woman and of a Roman soldier, Welcomed the Greeks who sought him, And needed a man from Africa to carry his cross. So teach us to regard the members of all races As fellow heirs of the kingdom of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lord in your mercy:
Hear our prayer.

A prayer seeking God's help in our relationship with Him

0 Lord, Open our eyes to your Presence

Open our minds to your grace

Open our lips to your praises

Open our hearts to your love

Open our lives to your healing

And be found among us.

Lord in your mercy:
Hear our prayer.

We pray for those who are sick and those who care for them:

Jesus our Healer, we place in your gentle hands those who are sick. Ease their pain, and heal the damage done to them in body, mind or spirit. Be present to them through the support of friends, And in the care of doctors and nurses, And fill them with the warmth of your love now and always.

Lord in your mercy:
Hear our prayer.

A prayer for those who mourn and those who have died.

CandleWe remember, Lord, the slenderness of the thread which separates life from death, and the suddenness with which it can be broken. Help us also to remember that on both sides of that division we are surrounded by your love. Persuade our hearts that when our dear ones die neither we nor they are parted from you. In you may we find our peace and in you be united with them in the glorious body of Christ, who has burst the bonds of death and is alive for evermore, our Saviour and theirs for ever and ever.

Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope We remember You turn our darkness into light and in your light shall we see light. Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
